Oculus Addresses Rift Shipping Delays
Many of you have been waiting for VR for years to try in your homes. Just when you thought it was months of even weeks away, your hopes were dashed when Oculus announced Pre-Order delays between 1 and 2 Months.
Ashley from Oculus PR reached to VRCircle via e-mail with the following statement:
The component shortage impacted our quantities more than we expected, and we’ve updated the shipment window to reflect these changes. We apologize for the delay.
We’re delivering Rifts to customers every day, and we’re focused on getting Rifts out the door as fast as we can. We’ve taken steps to address the component shortage, and we’ll continue shipping in higher volumes each week. We’ve also increased our manufacturing capacity to allow us to deliver in higher quantities, faster. Many Rifts will ship less than four weeks from original estimates, and we hope to beat the new estimates we’ve provided.
Palmer Luckey took to Twitter to attempt to allay fears of the eager VR beavers:
One thing that can be said, when the inventor of modern virtual reality interacts with consumers via Twitter, Reddit and so on, this is more than most companies would do, often just their PR folks get out there.
However, there are still many people disappointed their Rift will not arrive as expected. With any luck, Oculus can beat their recent adjusted estimates.
